Romance in a proposal

Mereith's proposal last Saturday was so touching that I still get goosebumps thinking about it now. I guess despite all the "phft who wants a big wedding/proposal" I've mentioned to thousands of people (maybe the entire world), it's still every girl's dream to receive something as sweet as this.

Well I wouldn't completely blow off the idea that media has conditioned us girls into liking mushy stuff like this (I really don't like to talk like a cnm student), but I firmly believe that all females, with some rare minorities, simply are born to like romantic stuff. How else can you explain the percentages of hopeless romantics in this world. I won't say that my words can be taken seriously but, perhaps I just want to believe that romance is something worth seeking in life.

It was really sweet, what he did and all. However cliche people thought of it when I told them (my bosses simply 'phfttttt' their way through my explanation), it worked. Plain ol' romance, works everytime. The balloons, the set-up, the now-you-see-me-now-you-don't dance routine, the traditional flipcards and the "will you marry me" confession, plastered with a cheesy smile, knee on the ground and of course a big diamond ring. Mereith did work very hard just for this proposal and maybe because of that we all felt so so happy for him at the end when Nina said yes. I think his heart probably exploded into a million stars that could feed an entire galaxy when she said yes. I mean, if it was me, I would too......that is if I'm a guy.

I'm not.

I can't really imagine how Nina must have felt when she first saw us dancing, and then when Mereith appeared and when he finally proposed. And how she felt after the entire saga, knowing that she is now happily married to the man she loves. It's a really intriguing feeling, looking at her, only being able to imagine how it must feel like as I only know by watching romance dramas. You know, how dramas always package love to be this all empowering hugashaga coupled with divine intervention and what not, and how life becomes like heaven after marrying someone they love. I guess the proposal was very drama-mama romantic simply because you could tell they loved each other a lot. Not that I mean to compare, but looking at some of my other friends around me, well, they just don't seem to have that kind of spark. If I put it horridly, some even seem to be marrying for the sake of marrying.

And what's the point in that, seriously.

I'm getting to the part where I start getting angsty, oops.

Back to the proposal, it was a really nice (fun) experience for all of us, watching one of our friends having his dream come true after months of preparation and heart-thumping moments. And I wish them everlasting happiness and lotsa babies to come :D THEIR BABIES WILL BE SO GOODLOOKING OHMAIGAWD *flails*

After the proposal, a bunch of us went to have our dinner and drinks after having failed to book tickets from ah boy to men. I really really wanna watch that movieeeeeeee when can I watch it will I ever watch it in this life. Ok I'll make an effort just to watch it. Effort should help I think?

On a side note, I finally tendered my resignation today. Not that I'll be unemployed anytime soon, I still have to wait till they get a new girl. But I'll probably leave either way once I find a way out. That being said, the way out is still very very elusive if you really want to know. I just think that I should follow where my heart leads me, and here is definitely not it now. I have many dreams, a few somewhat impractical and idealistic, some not so idealistic but not that easy to reach still. Someone (or somewhere, most probably my bff, the tumblr) once told me, it doesn't matter whether you comply with the standard methods needed to get there but that you try, at the very least. Taking a step is hard, taking many steps that doesn't lead to anywhere is even harder. But somehow, keep walking and you'll get to your destination somehow. Just keep walking, keep doing, keep dreaming. And keep believing. :)

Goodnight y'all. Tomorrow's another long long day at the tsunami-wrecked office for me. I hope I survive.

Life in a sandstorm

I always thought that life would get a lot easier down the road as I grow up, start working, making my own life decisions. Somehow I think I was horribly misguided.

Nothing seems to be going right these few days. A emotional rollercoaster ride in the office, tsunami waves at home. The only thing keeping me sane is spending time with the boy, and having random chats with friends. Just wondering, is this how I'm going to spend the rest of my life?

Never do something you do not love, was what I always told myself to believe in back then. Leave something that makes you mad, hold on to what makes you happy. Perhaps I need to start believing in that again.

Making the decision whether or not to quit my job aft a week there is a tough one. Not because I'm unable to do so, but because it feels like I'm being weak. But I'm not happy there, and never will be. It is just a matter of whether I will be able to stay for a year more just for the experience on my resume. To be honest, I really don't see the point when its not a job that I even want to be doing. I'm just a little afraid of the unknown, of whether I'll ever be able to find another job that quickly to pay my bills.

Seems like life is getting tougher but if I were to listen to what those philosophers say on twitter and many other social media sites, or even famous writers/novelists that have always inspired me, then that means that I'm the one who's making my life tough by thinking it. Yet, I cannot just stay still and hope that whatever's making me feel horrible will come to pass. Yes, horrible things will come to past, but that's only if I put in an effort to do something about it.

Do what you like, love what you do.

If only I could get myself to listen to myself for once, because everything sounds very muffled now.

Speak up, my heart.

25 Things To Do Before You Turn 25

1. Make peace with your parents. Whether you finally recognize that they actually have your best interests in mind or you forgive them for being flawed human beings, you can’t happily enter adulthood with that familial brand of resentment.

2. Kiss someone you think is out of your league; kiss models and med students and entrepreneurs with part-time lives in Dubai and don’t worry about if they’re going to call you afterward.

3. Minimize your passivity.

4. Work a service job to gain some understanding of how tipping works, how to keep your cool around assholes, how a few kind words can change someone’s day.

5. Recognize freedom as a 5:30 a.m. trip to the diner with a bunch of strangers you’ve just met.

6. Try not to beat yourself up over having obtained a ‘useless’ Bachelor’s Degree. Debt is hell, and things didn’t pan out quite like you expected, but you did get to go to college, and having a degree isn’t the worst thing in the world to have. We will figure this mess out, I think, probably; the point is you’re not worth less just because there hasn’t been an immediate pay off for going to school. Be patient, work with what you have, and remember that a lot of us are in this together.

7. If you’re employed in any capacity, open a savings account. You never know when you might be unemployed or in desperate need of getting away for a few days. Even $10 a week is $520 more a year than you would’ve had otherwise.

8. Make a habit of going outside, enjoying the light, relearning your friends, forgetting the internet.

9. Go on a 4-day, brunch-fueled bender.

10. Start a relationship with your crush by telling them that you want them. Directly. Like, look them in the face and say it to them. Say, I want you. I want to be with you.

11. Learn to say ‘no’ — to yourself. Don’t keep wearing high heels if you hate them; don’t keep smoking if you’re disgusted by the way you smell the morning after; stop wasting entire days on your couch if you’re going to complain about missing the sun.

12. Take time to revisit the places that made you who you are: the apartment you grew up in, your middle school, your hometown. These places may or may not be here forever; you definitely won’t be.

13. Find a hobby that makes being alone feel lovely and empowering and like something to look forward to.

14. Think you know yourself until you meet someone better than you.

15. Forget who you are, what your priorities are, and how a person should be.

16. Identify your fears and instead of letting them dictate your every move, find and talk to people who have overcome them. Don’t settle for experiencing .000002% of what the world has to offer because you’re afraid of getting on a plane.

17. Make a habit of cleaning up and letting go. Just because it fit at one point doesn’t mean you need to keep it forever — whether ‘it’ is your favorite pair of pants or your ex.

18. Stop hating yourself.

19. Go out and watch that movie, read that book, listen to that band you already lied about watching, reading, listening to.

20. Take advantage of health insurance while you have it.

21. Make a habit of telling people how you feel, whether it means writing a gushing fan-girl email to someone whose work you love or telling your boss why you deserve a raise.

22. Date someone who says, “I love you” first.

23. Leave the country under the premise of “finding yourself.” This will be unsuccessful. Places do not change people. Instead, do a lot of solo drinking, read a lot of books, have sex in dirty hostels, and come home when you start to miss it.

24. Suck it up and buy a Macbook Pro.

25. Quit that job that’s making you miserable, end the relationship that makes you act like a lunatic, lose the friend whose sole purpose in life is making you feel like you’re perpetually on the verge of vomiting. You’re young, you’re resilient, there are other jobs and relationships and friends if you’re patient and open.

Turning 22

Before I know it I'm suddenly 22. Another year, gone, just like that.  O.O
I'M ANOTHER YEAR OLD OMG HOW CAN. I need to check for wrinkles, I already have stretch marks tell me this isn't happening.

I'm forever 18 in my mind. There, problem solved.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

So what did I do on my birthday? The usual, plus something new this year, or rather someone. :) Who spent really a lot this time round for my birthday so I just wanna say again, thankyou baby <3 I loved everything, the dinner, the present, and the time spent :)

And thankyou to all my dear friends who wished me, either via Facebook, twitter or personal texts. For all those who did, I love y'all! :D

For those who didn't, well, let's just say nothing lost. :)

My birthday has never really been a special time for me ever, nor a time that I looked forward to. It's kind of funny how I always dread it, how I always manage to get myself all moody a week or two before my birthday. I never really liked having birthdays, because somehow I always find myself disappointed. Except for some memorable ones like in year one where joysu and enkee barged into the room with a cake (that was really nice :D) or the year weixin bought me elehwany and a few more. Maybe I'm just bitter about last year. I don't know.

But luckily this year I managed to get myself less expectant and eager. No disappointments at least. Had a nice dinner with both my mum and dad, and a late night supper with the Boy, who released his exclusive preview of the 3 presents he got me, right aft midnight. 3 presents, yeah. Hahaha actually it could have been 6 presents.

I LOVE MY RILAKKUMA POLAROIDDDDD WHEEEEE :DD

The shopaholic in me screams like a bitch each time I look at it. It's screaming at me to buy more polaroids, more bags and more polaroids. This proves to be an obstacle I have to overcome.

But other than the polaroid, I now have a book to store all of it in; the stubs and miscellanous, which I actually found a box to place it in, but now everything goes into the book, and the book shall go into the box.

The boy insists he will be a millionaire. I shall throw away the stub. Muahahaha

Went to a really nice dinner place and all at Rochester Park, and it was really pretty atas. I didn't even know that place existed actually, much less that it had restaurants and bars down its lane.

The food was REALLY good also. The boy got lamb shank (with caramelized brussel sprouts ohgosh damn nice) and I got yellow chicken with squash that tasted like sweet potatoes.

Also got the tiramisu which the place was supposed to be famous for, according to reviews, and dark chocolate souffle (YUMMYYUMYUMNOMNOMNOM). I think I ate too slowly, they served the souffle and tiramisu before I could finish my chicken. Nehneh. Couldn't they have waited for me to finish at least. Ok maybe I should have just eaten faster, but the chicken was really hard to cut.

The price was really atas too, like $25 for the souffle only. But it was really really really very yummy though! Worth going there again, I wanna try the entire lamb shank for myself muahahaha. And the vanilla icecream was so nice the boy's eyes went triple its size when he ate it.
The ORIGINAL VANILLA O.O. How on earth do they do it???

After the dinner we managed to catch the korean movie, Soar into the Sun (i think) before going home. AIRPLANES SWOOSH SWOOSH. Pil seung~!!!

It was ok for me, but the boy loved it. So, yeahhhh go watch it if you like action and cheesy plots and lots of bombing + fighter planes. And shin sekyung....and rain. *pukes*

HEEEEEEEE.

So I guess this is where I write down my thoughts and chingchonghchang to commemorate me turning 22. But what do I write. Hmmmmmmmmmm.

I don't really have much to say, except that this year has been perhaps one of my happiest. I've lost friends, gained friends, lost confidence, gained it back, lost love, gained love. The usual sorts. It hasn't been smooth sailing, especially the beginning of this year, and I'm just trying to get everything back on track even till now. Turning 21 was supposed to be a big milestone for me, but I guess turning 22 is actually bigger. Graduating, learning how to deal with society throwing its responsibilities at you and nagging at you to fulfill your obligations, and the first step into the working life. Getting into a relationship and learning step by step each day, thinking much more, worrying much more. Yup, 22 is definitely much much more life changing than I thought. On being 22, however, I have to celebrate that I'm that much closer to taking charge of my life, albeit having more bills to pay and more mouths to feed. Independence was all I ever dreamt of, and that will be what I shall aim for. I've kinda digressed from that goal but I'm going back.

This year is almost over, but next year will be better. I have no cake this year so I have no birthday wish, but if I had one I would wish for less disappointments and more inner peace. I need quite a lot of it.

Talking about all these is making me sad and moody. This post is dragging too far.

Goodnight and happy (belated) 22nd birthday to me! :D

Photo update: USS Halloween Horror Nights 2

For the 2nd time in my life, I went for another Halloween event - this time round at USS (temporarily sponsored by mr bbf hahaha).

I guess even after the entire thing, getting freaked out in the haunted houses and by random zombies walking around, I'm still not really ready for a 3rd round, maybe never again. I can't get what is so unscary about all of the ghosts/monsters/zombies walking around. Yeah they're not real and all BUT they're all still one kind of scary. I've never been a very brave person so halloween.....well let's just say it will take a lot more to convince me to go the next time. I might not say yes. I might never say yes.

But I thoroughly enjoyed myself. I did. Hahahaha the rides were so fun, I can't wait to sit them again the next time. The whole experience of getting freaked out beyond words (I literally went speechless from all the fright) and coming out safe and sound and having the boy accompany me at the side made the time there much more enjoyable. What could have been more enjoyable was if I was allowed to actually hit the stupid ghosts roaming around. Those stupid nehnehs. But yeah yeah I know they're only working and I'm supposed to be nice. Ok fine.

Still remembered the first halloween event I ever went with Min and Jaycie 2 years ago in our kitty costumes that we made ourselves (DO NOT JUDGE). It wasn't half as scary although inside the haunted houses I didn't lift my head up once at all, so I can't even recall what was in the house or what theme they did. Kinda wasted my money if I think about it but hey I came out safe and sound. :D The next year we wanted to go as corpse bride, but it never happened.

I just think halloween isn't my kind of thing. Put me on a rollercoaster a million times and I'll do it. One time in a haunted house? NO CAN DO. I'll do anything else but that.

BUT WHY DO PEEPUR LIKE HALLOWEEN SO MUCH OMG I CANNOT UNDERSTAND. I STILL CANNOT UNDERSTAND.

Unless it's like halloween party at a club or something. That I can totally get. Haunted houses? No way.

I don't wanna talk about this anymore, all the thinking back brings memories of those stupid ghosts trying to freak me out. Here are photos, and goodbye!

the overcrowded waiting rooms while waiting to take the transformers ride

And here we found Marcus tied up in a chair. Who was supposed to be running around trying to escape clowns but I guess he's tired after an entire night of running already.

HAHAHAHAHA LOOK AT THE RESEMBLANCE
I refuse to take a photo with the real doll. TOO SCARY. Fake ones are just fine :)

And then we went for supper after that, at 2am in the morning. LOOK at all the goodness spilling out. Ok the photos aren't very nice, but trust me, the food was good, especially when 3 hungry ghosts are looking at it.
SUPPER AT LONG LAST!

The litte asshole..........*flicks*

Feeling all comfy at home, seated with my green tea macchiato from Koi (whoooopeee), and waiting for my Ailee videos to load. What is wrong with YouTube!!! It's not loaddingggggg I has a sad :(

Yesterday was a little bit of a mess, kind of accumulative I would say, or maybe it's just symptoms from having my period. NEHNEH. I hate periods. I hate being a girl.....woman. But I'm fine now :) Thanks to aixin zaochan according to the boy. Does that translates to heart breakfast? Idk. Hahaha but yeah, made my day :D Whee.

Starting work soon on the 5th of November, not really sure if I'm up to it yet but we'll see. All I want is the money to spend my time properly and happily. Life without money is a tad miserable I have to admit.

Came back from China last saturday. It was pretty fun I guess. I spent and ate way too much, all ruffled up in winter clothings although it was autumn time (still mother cold anyway), and had random angst moments with certain disgusting people in my tour group. Nonetheless, had my share of fun and relaxing moments there. Once I touched down, the next day was Nike run already. It went well hahahaha. 10K, no sweat. My mum is so happy that she won me by 7 secs but I'm just too nice to tell her I could have been faster. Shall let her be happy.

Went with the Boy, Audrey and her bf! I still like how they give bananas at the end of the run. HEHEHEHEHE. Bananas.

 Lazy to edit photos. Hahahaha.
Not so sure if I ever wanna run again. Still the idea of running to me is like...... -.- zzzzzz.
I shall see. The only way to motivate me is to convince me running actually helps me lose weight. Other than that, no chance.

On another note, Halloween USS this friday. NOT STOKED NOT STOKED. Omg horrors, the photos look damn freaky all of them. I need courage pills. :(((((

Thai food for dinner tonight. THAT, I'm looking forward to :D Heheeehehehehe.
Starting work soon, hm, nope. Not excited.

But, money, YEAHHHHH excited.

On a completely irrelevant note also, CHECK THIS OUT MY BABIES IS BACK OMG ALL MY FEELS I CAN'T CONTAIN THEM OVARIES GO BOOM.

Ok BYE.
